Pineapple Completes Homer's Odyssey

Pineapple Completes Homer's Odyssey

A local Atherian swimming at the nearby beach of Petani discovered a Pineapple adrift at sea.

"The Pineapple was being pummeled by Petani's large waves and seemed determined to get to where it was going, but after a while, I noticed it was in bad shape - so I plucked it from the sea."

"After tending to it, the Pineapple regained consciousness and asked me where we were" - "I said, ‘Atheras, Kefalonia’ - and it seemed defeated".

"We talked for hours, as it de-brined, and I learned of the Pineapple's epic journey from Asia Minor, and about its dream of becoming the first Pineapple to duplicate Odysseus' heroic journey."

Now it all made sense.

The Pineapple told of encounters with a cycloptic sea beast, a great vortex to the depths of darkness, and of seductive coconut-tree-dwelling sirens - the tales were endless.

"Of course, in the back of my mind, I knew of Brittlestone's research" - (the theory placing the real 'Ithaca' at Porto Atheras) - "and I planned an afternoon boat-ride to surprise the Pineapple with the news that it had, in fact, completed its journey."

"I could hardly contain my excitement - I was going to break the news, I really was, but when I awoke from a siesta, the Pineapple was gone!"

"I should have known that being back at sea would awaken its spirit of adventure". The Pineapple apparently decided to finish what it started, not realizing that the currents of fate had already delivered it to Odysseus' homeland.

"Whatever happens, I know the Pineapple made it".
